Polyester-Spandex Blend
Polyester: Made from petroleum, Polyurethane terephtalate (PET), used for clothing Fashions is a synthetic resin in which the polymer units are linked by ester groups, most commonly blended with natural fibers.
Advantages: Very resistant to wrinkling, stretching, shrinking, bleach, sunlight, months, and mildew. Is soft and drapes easily on the body, holds garments shapes well, highly durable, fast drying, pill resistant in filament form, and takes dye well(requires high-temperature dye)
Disadvantages: Derived from nonrenewable petroleum and I s manufactured using an energy-emitting process. It retains oil stains, Hydrophobic-doesn't absorb moisture well, and gains static electricity.
Spandex: man-made fabric, polyurethane, used in a variety of clothing styles, especially undergarments.
Advantages: Great stretch and will retain it's shape. Is resistant to sunlight, oil, perspiration, is light weight, strong, durable, soft, smooth and has easy care.
Disadvantages: Heat sensitive, non-absorbent, yellows with age, harmed by chlorine bleach.
Combined Qualities of Polyester and Spandex: The combined qualities of Polyester and Spandex allows for a smooth, stretchy, slim-fitting design that compliments the physic. It's fabric content is fitting for layering on a cold day or wearing by itself on a warm day.
